Life is too crazy

Been out of town quite a bit and it is so hard to stay on top of staying in shape. Unfortunately will be very busy thru the end of the year and then have a small medical issue(nothing serious/in and out procedure) that I’m sure will interupt working out for a little while. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL. I will check in again soon.

Back in town again

One of my biggest frustrations in life is when I have to go out of town for any reason and I am not able to stay on top of my physical training!   I really try to when on the road, but, for one reason or another it seams to get by me so that I can’t maintain consistency……………………I plan on trying harder!

At least I have been able to do better on the diet……………I am still maintaining at 220lbs………….and still getting stronger ……………… and seam to still be losing body fat…………………….

Diet is 90% with working out being 10%

And it doesn’t hurt to be using great supplements……..( thanks to dublifestyle.com )

I will try to do better at posting progress reports………………………

HAVE A GREAT DAY

First chance to update in over a week

Sorry folks,

I needed to attend a school, got the opportunity to go and I did.

School was so demanding that I had no time to even monitor my email.

Looking forward to getting back to the gym and giving you all updates……………..

Gotta run,………………I’ve got quite a few fires to put out

Ben

Leg day…………………………….

Today everything worked the way it should!

Got up ontime…………

Made it to the gym……ontime…………

Did my usual cardio and pre-workout routine…ontime……

Then ….UG!  Leg day!  I just have a hard time getting into legs………..

But today was different, after going to the Utah NPC body building and fitness show saturday night I now have a much better focus of what I have to do if I’m to “compete”(I use that word loosly) in the  april or may competition.

I have realized that I need to gain 15-20lbs and need to cut my body fat by about 4%………Legs play a key role in accomplishing both of those challenges…………………..

1st lift- heavy leg presses-4 sets of 8 reps

2nd lift- individual leg curls- 4 sets of 8 reps each leg

3rd lift- leg extensions- 4 sets of 8 reps

4th lift- heavy calfs- 4 sets of 8 reps

I find the key to getting results with legs (at least my legs) is to push thru my sets hard enough that by the time I get to my last set I have a hard time getting past 5-6 reps without a spotter.

I hope to be able to post growth and body fat results in the near future.

Have a great day……………………………………..

NOT ENOUGH TIME IN A DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JUST NOT ENOUGH TIME IN A DAY ANYMORE…………………….  Was up early and on time this AM, cranked thru my favorite workout, BACK DAY!

Back is my favorite workout………………had to rush thru it today………great workout , sucks that it had to be rushed.

Crazy schedule today , gotta run…………………………..

Adrenaline and the weekend………………wahoooooo.

I absolutely love to ride any thing with 2 wheels,  but for this weekend it was on my trusty YZ450F riding in the back country on the single track.

Some of these trails were so unused that it was like riding on MTN goat trails………….I love technical riding, the more dicey the better.

Some of these trails we ride you need to have a minimum of 3 riders, but should have 4, so that you can get the bike and rider thru(and sometimes out of) some of the crazy stuff we ride.

There is just something rejuvinating about adrenaline……………………….PLEASE GIVE ME MORE!!!!!

Now back to reallity,  it’s monday am, and it’s shoulder day………………………

Shoulders is one of my areas that I need to really focus on, the more you train your shoulders correctly, making them stronger , the more you protect them from injury while lifting heavy chest and back.

Todays shoulder routine was great!!!

Just looked at the time and I gotta run………………………..

Chest today

Working my back is my favorite workout day, with chest in a solid second place.

To effectively work my chest muscles and to have the growth that I’m working towards………..you have to have a workout partner.

Unfortunately, life has become very hectic for my lifting partner and he has only been able to get to the gym a few times in the last few weeks.

But I still had a great workout, abs were a little sore from lifting so heavy yesterday (seated/weighted crunch machine) and I did a 500 crunch routine that I have done for years, then finished up with leg lifts and lower back extentions………………….

That’s got to be all for today…………………I’m on a bit of a schedule with some contract work……………………

Leg Day……………………need I say more?

I don’t know but a few people…………………….my whole life………………………..that like to work their legs!!!!

I don’t!

But ,the legs are the largest muscle group in the body, and if you want to lose weight or stay in top condition you must work your legs!

Repeat with me….” Sometimes you just have to do what you don’t want to do!”

So I did what I didn’t want to do this morning…………………………………………Did you?

Onward and upward…………………………………………………

Nutrition, Nutrition, nutrition, and more nutrition

Staying in good physical condition  in my mind is 80% nutrition – 20% active lifestyle!!!

Trying to gain muscle  and train for a fitness competition is probably 95% nutrition – 5% hard training!  (thanks for the insight Holly and Jeremy)

I  felt like I had sludge in my veins this morning, the poor food choices of the weekend seemed to catch up with me.

1. It was much harder to get out of bed this am

2. It took longer to warm up

3. So much harder to keep my head in the game

But, sometimes we have to do what we don’t want to do…………………..(that’s what I tell myself and it works for me, most of the time) I just have to fight thru the desire to not do all my reps or to finish all the sets in my workout routine. ……………..(especially when abs are at the end of the workout)

This I find is the difference between people who reach their goals, and people who don’t reach their goals when it comes to the game of staying in shape.

I plan on reaching my goals!

No more time for today……………………………………………….

Really fell off the wagon this weekend

Or rather I drove of the road and into the ditch,

3 quarts of ice cream,

pumpkin pie,

a lotta chips and salsa

If I continue to eat like that on weekends I will never maintain my goals.

I did however make it out of bed on time, get to the gym early, and had a great , strong shoulder workout………………………

I really need to maintain discipline at the moment.  I have some schools I will be attending in the near future and that will make it hard to eat right while out of town, and traveling.

Gotta run have a visitor………………………………………
